LCM Environmental is an registered OFTEC (Oil Firing Technical Association) company. This is the government standard relating to any oil-fired installation. Our teams are all trained and certified OFTEC tank inspectors and installers.
Since 2001 stricter rules and regulations have been introduced to the control and storage of hazardous fuels and liquids, the responsibility for all fuel storage facilities now falls to the owner to ensure that annual inspections and maintenance are adhered to for all storage tanks, interceptors, bunds and all associated pipe work and that they all comply with the regulations set and enforced by the Environment Agency throughout the UK.
At LCM Environmental we can arrange to inspect your tank, conduct a site survey and make any recommendations about how to ensure it complies with the new Fuel Storage Regulations.
In some cases minor work may be required to ensure compliance with the regulations. In other cases the existing tank may need to be replaced with a new tank that is regulation compliant.

With our 24/7 Emergency Response we can provide a comprehensive Spill Response and Emergency Decontamination service. With specialist staff and fully equipped Emergency Response trailers based throughout the country, we are able to respond within hours to a spill and commence the necessary assessment, containment and clean up operations essential for minimising the consequences of the incident. In addition our skilled staff can investigate and report their findings in order to advise on remediation procedures.
Our team leaders are competent in incident management and liaising with the Environment Agency, environmental consultants, loss adjusters and insurance companies; all of whom are likely to be involved in the aftermath of a spill.
We also offer an Annual Tank Care Programme that gives you peace of mind that your tank is being correctly maintained and conforms to current regulations.
For an annual fee we will:
- Conduct an annual inspection of your tank
- Conduct minor remedial work if required e.g. tighten up connections or clean sight gauges
- Clean any bund
- Empty any contaminated liquid and dispose of it
- Complete a written report on its condition along with any recommendations if remedial action to ensure continued compliance is required.
- Be available to respond to any emergency spill or accident that may occur from the tank 24/7, 365 days a year
LCM Environmental will work with a client to minimise consequential loss, wherever possible.
We are also able to provide pro-active consultancy support to help our clients avoid spills or contamination in the future. Our investigative services are also available to discover the cause of the incident and advise on what can be done to avoid further incidents.
