Since 1987, LCM has provided vital services to the downstream fuel industry, working with petrochemical giants such as Exxon Mobil and BP Global Alliance as well as independent operators. Today, LCM works across the UK, into Europe and beyond, partnering with organisations of all sizes where fuel is a critical asset.
Founded by John Frewer, a former Merchant Navy tanker captain, LCM (Liquid Cargo Management) specialised in cleaning fuel terminal tanks. The company grew rapidly and its reputation for efficiency and health and safety prompted an enquiry from Shell to undertake a programme of petrol station decommissioning. Since the 1990s, nearly 20,000 petrol stations in the UK have been decommissioned, many of these projects undertaken by LCM.
When John Frewer retired in 2006, three of LCM’s directors, Bob Burnard, Mark Orr and Stephen Shaw bought-out the company. By this time LCM was a market leader in managing fuel spills and incidents and the company rebranded, becoming LCM Environmental.
In 2010 on the retirement of the Stephen Shaw, the remaining Directors introduced Amtex who provided working capital to enable the business to double in size over the next five years and further expand its product range including the licence for the Tanknology range of products; Petroscope and Vacutect.
On the retirement of Bob Burnard in 2016, LCM came under the day to day control of Managing Director, Mark Orr. LCM’s will now deliver the shareholders’ vision to significantly expand the business in UK and abroad with a range of innovative fuel and environmental management products supported by our enthusiasm for innovation and excellence.
LCM’s services to the fuel industry have been honoured with awards from global blue chip petrochemical companies such as ABB Exxon, Total, Shell and BP. In addition, the company has an impressive suite of accreditations and qualifications, operating to the highest standards of quality, environmental and health and safety.
